House of Delegates Mid-Term 2023 Virtual Meeting September 23

At our last two HoD meetings, the HoDs stressed interest in meeting annually between each International Symposium Therefore, the IFDH Board has announced there will be a 3-hour, VIRTUAL meeting on:

2023 IFDH Summit Provides Motivation, Inspiration & Guiding Actions for Dental Hygienists

The virtual 2023 IFDH Global Oral Health Summit, again, brings together influential worldwide leaders and stakeholders for 3 hours, to discuss how Dental Hygienists can contribute to reduce the burden of oral health diseases and its economic global impact. 3.5 CMEs will be provided.

In our third Summit in 3 years, we continue to provide Dental Hygienists with valuable information and tools to understand and implement the WHO Global Strategies on Oral Health.

International Symposium on Dental Hygiene 2024:
Save the Dates!

ISDH 2024 is scheduled to take place at COEX, Seoul, South Korea for a span of three days from July 11-13, 2024. This year's symposium theme is "Dental Hygienist, the Center of Oral Health." It will encompass four sub-themes represented by the acronym CORE: Collaboration, Optimization, Reimagination, and Equality.

IFDH President Attends Two Member Conferences:
S. Korea and USA

New Orleans, United States: The summer of 2023 kicked off for IFDH President Wanda Fedora with a celebration of 100 years as an association for our American colleagues (ADHA). Being the birthplace of our profession in 1920 and then the first association of dental hygienists it is a milestone we can all celebrate. The conference concluded with a spectacular Saturday night Gala. Being flappers for the President Dinner was quite a treat.

Seoul, S. Korea: Wanda also spent three days in Seoul, which were a peek into the future and ISDH 2024, by attending the KDHA Annual Conference. The CoEx was a beautiful facility, sure to meet our needs for ISDH. Be prepared to enjoy when you attend ISDH 2024, "The Dental Hygienist - The Center of Oral Health."

Social Responsibility Program Unveils
New Promotional Video

IFDH has recently launched a new video, extending an invitation to our member organizations to take the initiative and launch Social Responsibility projects aimed at advancing oral health within their respective communities. Notably, exceptional SR projects will be eligible for awards, with recognition scheduled for the IFDH International Symposium on Dental Hygiene in July 2024.

Evidence-based Self Care Recommendations Matter:

Findings from IFDH 8 Global Surveys

Over the past three years IFDH has completed 8 global surveys with sponsorship and involvement with P&G. A White Paper summarizing all of them is in the final stages and will be available in October. The White Paper will inspire dental hygienists to make more impactful evidence-based preventive self-care recommendations to:

1) Improve patients' periodontal health;

2) Positively influence patients' overall health; and

3) Contribute to sustainable dentistry.

Haleon Sponsors Two New IFDH Programs

Innovation Awards

An exciting, new IFDH Innovation Awards program, sponsored by Haleon, will recognize innovative Dental Hygienists and Therapists, with a focus on technology and treatment. The awards will recognize you, or someone you know, who is:

- Developing new approaches or equipment for achieving optimal oral health; or

- Bringing new treatments or products to the oral health community to enable our colleagues to help their clients/patients achieve a healthy mouth.

Whether as a solo researcher/developer, educator, or as part of a team, Haleon and IFDH want to recognize the innovators in our midst. Application coming soon.

DEADLINE: December 30^th

White Paper Series on Prevention & Treatment

Over a three-year period, the IFDH will oversee a series of six White Papers with Haleon sponsorship to provide evidence-based guidance and information to its 35 national association country members. The White Papers will be valuable resources to use in advocacy efforts and for collaborating with like-minded stakeholders in dentistry, medicine and education.

World Dental Hygienist Awards: This Program is in Process!
The World Dental Hygienist Awards has been open for applications for its 2024 edition. After a two-year hiatus forced by Covid-19, Sunstar Foundation and IFDH present a revamped version of the World Dental Hygienist Awards. New to the World Dental Hygienist Awards program is the integration of regional Awards of Distinction:
- Europe and North America: This deadline has passed. - Africa, Asia, Latin America & Oceania: Deadline: January 15^th, 2024

Start a Project or Submit Your Project for an Award!

The IFDH's ongoing commitment to bridging oral health disparities encourages its members to initiate social responsibility projects that can address this gap.Watch our new video!

In collaboration with corporate sponsor Dentsply Sirona, the IFDH seeks to recognize and award exceptional social responsibility projects during a special session at the IFDH International Symposium on Dental Hygiene (ISDH) in Seoul, Korea, in July 2024. This offers an invaluable platform to spotlight the influence of these projects and inspire the broader dental hygiene community to foster lasting improvements in oral health practices.

Several countries have already begun their projects,
and we are eagerly looking forward to
welcoming others to join in this impactful initiative.
