World Dental Hygienist Awards
Since 2007, IFDH and the Sunstar Foundation have joined forces to present the World Dental Hygienist Awards. They honor those who have positively impacted patients, the community, and the general public through their dedicated work and achievements
The Awards recognize Dental Hygienists who have made significant contributions to the dental hygiene field in a wide variety of areas, such as:
- Research
- Education
- Patient Care
- Public Health
- the General Public
Regional Awards of Distinction & Global Awards
The 2026 awards will be presented at the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene (ISDH) in Milan, Italy, July 9-11, 2026.
Together with two regional awards of distinction – in Europe, and North America – the World Dental Hygienist Awards form a unique awards program designed to celebrate dental hygienists all over the world who are helping to elevate the Dental Hygienist profession. They are presented every two years at the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene.
The World Dental Hygienist Awards consist of a trophy, cash prizes, and reimbursement for participation and travel to the ISDH.

Regional Qualifications
Candidates from Europe and North America will be eligible for the Regional Awards of Distinction.
Selection Process
The six winners from each region plus nominees from Africa, Asia, LATAM and Oceania will compete at the WDHA
Awards & Recognition
Each winner receives a trophy, $1,500, and travel reimbursements for the WDHA ceremony at the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene.
Applications:
The program will start accepting applications from North America and Europe in January 2025.
