World Dental Hygienist Awards

The Sunstar Foundation has established the World Dental Hygienist Awards to recognize dental hygienists who are members of IFDH and have made significant contributions to dental hygiene science or to patients, the community and the general public.

The World Dental Hygienist Awards are presented every three years to a person or group chosen by an independent Selection Committee. All eligible entries that meet the criteria and are submitted by the due date have been blinded before going to the Selection Committee for review and judging.

Award Categories

Research Category – The entry may include both quantitative and qualitative analyses that provide important new insights that contribute to the body of knowledge in dental hygiene.

Activity/Project Category – The entry should provide details of the activities that have made a key contribution to patients, the community or to the general public.

Student Research Category – The entry may include both quantitative and qualitative analyses that provide important new insights that contribute to the body of knowledge in dental hygiene.

Student Activity/Project Category – The entry should provide details of the activities that have made a key contribution to patients, the community or to the general public. The positive impact of the activities on the health of a significant number of individuals should be empirically demonstrated.

Award Description

Cash awards will be issued to the winner and a donation in the winner’s name will be issued to a project and/or dental hygiene program designated by the winner for the purpose of supporting additional research and study. A trophy will be presented for each category at the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene (ISDH). The Sunstar Foundation will pay for participation for one representative of each winning category for all aspects of the ISDH including full registration. The Sunstar Foundation will determine a travel allowance to be paid.
