Australia

Several Exciting New Initiatives
The Oral Health Association of Australia (OHAA), the peak professional body for Dental Hygienists, Dental Therapists and Oral Health Therapists, continues to grow its impact through several exciting initiatives, including the launch of the OHAA App and new website and broader digital platform, the rollout of the OHAA Learning Hub/LMS for member resources and self-directed learning, and the Oral Health Promoter course now available online, alongside a strong national CPD and events program. These developments reflect OHAA’s ongoing commitment to professional growth, innovation and strengthening the oral health workforce across Australia.


Canada

Intraoral Radiographs Position Paper
CDHA’s latest position paper contends that dental hygienists across Canada must have the authority to prescribe intraoral radiographs as best practice in managing periodontal care for their patients. New Online Course: Inclusive Language in Dental Hygiene Practice
Words Matter: Inclusive Language in Dental Hygiene Practice is an introductory, evidence-informed online course designed to develop self-awareness and help Dental Hygienists communicate with respect and intention. Using examples, reflective exercises, and real-world clinical applications, the course explores how everyday word choices influence patient experiences, workplace culture, and professional relationships. Czech Republic

Voluntary Work for the Organization & the Public!
On April 10,2026 the Spring Professional Conference was held, followed by the Annual General Meeting of the Czech Dental Hygienists Association in April. Two new members of the leadership were elected, and the ADH ČR initiatives organized to mark the association’s 25th anniversary were evaluated. A total of 102 association members took part in this campaign, collectively contributing 2,556 hours of voluntary work for the benefit of the public.


Israel

Women’s Day & Position Paper
The Israeli Dental Hygienists Association continues to promote professional advancement and prevention-oriented oral healthcare. Unfortunately, this year our Women’s Day Conference, themed “The Development of Oral Hygiene Throughout History,” was postponed due to the security situation and will now take place in March 2027. In addition, our association supported community oral health projects for elderly people continues to work extensively toward expanding the scope of practice of dental hygienists in Israel, as well as advancing the academic recognition of the profession with the relevant authorities. Recently, the association published a position paper emphasizing the important role of dental hygienists in public health, particularly regarding chronic diseases and oral health. This position paper also introduced updated professional terminology within the dental hygiene field in Israel.


Slovakia

The Association of Dental Hygienists in the Slovak Republic has announced that effective from May 1, 2026, Anna Sloviaková, dipl. d. h., has become the new Chief Expert of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic for Dental Hygiene.
