IFDH President's Report

June 2019

We’re Excited for ISDH, New Members & Our Expanding Programs

ISDH Update & Social Responsibility Workshop

As we get closer to the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene in Brisbane in August the Board, Scientific Committee, Local Organising Committee and the PCO have been working hard to provide a varied and interesting scientific program and social events for attendees.

House of Delegates Business Meeting

At each symposium the representatives from member countries meet to discuss the business and goals of the International Federation of Dental Hygienists. This year we will have at least 23 countries attending for 2.5 days to learn about our new Strategic Plan developed by the IFDH Board…elections, great discussion, and much more!

International Symposium on Dental Hygiene

The Welcoming Ceremony will include some special guests – some Australian animals for you to experience! The ISDH in Brisbane has been supported by our sponsors at 107% of target. Registrations are at 78% of target , so now we are looking forward to an exciting and successful Symposium.

Currently we have 17 countries attending the Social Responsibility Workshop to present the projects designed for the very successful Social Responsibility Conference in Florence last year. Come and see how your colleagues have created projects to improve the Oral Health of target populations. Professor Murray Thomson from Otago University will be our guest speaker for this event.

A big thank you to all involved and especially our sponsors who have generously supported the Symposium and Social Responsibility Workshop!

What is World Cavity-Free Future Day?

World Cavity-Free Future Day (WCFFDay) was launched as an initiative in 2016 by the Alliance for a Cavity-Free Future (ACFF). Celebrated on October 14th each year, its mission is to address the need for greater global awareness of dental caries, the disease which, when left unaddressed, can lead to dental cavities. WCFF Day aims to engage communities around the world in this global fight and offers the chance to send a ‘wakeup call’ to those with the ability to make social, economic and political changes to encourage action towards achieving a Cavity-Free future.
